WHY WE
FUNDRAISE
School Council fundraises to provide enhancements to your child’s education*, including:
-
student experiences (e.g. bringing in special performances or Arts or STEM facilitators, subsidizing grade 8 graduation)
-
parent engagement initiatives (e.g. anti-bullying workshops, math success workshops)
-
supplies, equipment or improvements not included in the school’s budget (e.g. additional sports or technology equipment, musical instruments, library books)
In the past, School Council has fundraised for big ticket items like our revitalized playground and new play structure.
You can have your say about how these funds are spent by attending a School Council meeting, where School Council approves expenditures. To learn more about School Council Finances, check out the Fern School Council By-laws.

HOW WE
FUNDRAISE
Looking to get involved? We organize various fundraising events throughout the school year and we would love your support!
Some of our past initiatives include:
-
Movie Nights: A fun way to bring our community together, we host family movie nights in the auditorium several times a year.
-
Dance-a-thon: A high-energy event where kids dance the day away while raising funds for the school.
-
Spring Fling: The ultimate parent party of the year, offering a chance to celebrate and connect with friends and neighbours.
-
Fun Fair (Fernapalooza): A beloved end-of-year tradition featuring classic field games, hot dogs, a bake sale, face painting, and more!
-
Direct Appeals: Occasionally, we run direct fundraising campaigns through School Cash Online to support specific projects.
Your participation makes all the difference - thank you for being part of our school community!
