We’re excited to invite you to Fern Family Dinner in celebration of Black History Month - an evening built around good food, powerful words, and real community connection.

📍 Barque Smokehouse (299 Roncesvalles Ave – Fern-parent owned!)

Barque will be closed to the public for this private event, creating a warm, welcoming space just for Fern families and neighbouring school communities to gather, eat together, and engage in meaningful dialogue.

🌿 Evening Schedule:

• 5:30 PM – Doors open

• 6:00–7:00 PM – Spoken word & community dialogue

• 7:00–8:30 PM – Dinner & drinks

🎤 Featuring Special Guest: Dwayne Morgan

We’re honoured to welcome Dwayne Morgan—award-winning spoken-word artist, educator, author, and founder of Up From The Roots. His work blends poetry, social justice, and cultural leadership, inspiring young people and adults alike to find power in their voices.

🍽 About the Dinner

Owner of Barque Smokehouse & fellow Fern-parent, David Neinstein is generously donating the venue for the evening, “Having my own public space allows me the opportunity to hold public forums such as this one. And using this public space positively is best for the community and black history is a crucial element of it.“
