THAT'S A WRAP!

Dear Fern families, caregivers, staff, and community members,

As we wrap up the 2025–2026 school year, we want to take a moment to reflect on the work of Fern Ave School Council, celebrate what our community accomplished together, and thank everyone who contributed their time, energy, ideas, and support. 

It was a very busy year, with many unique twists and challenges. From the TDSB’s supervision and removal of our Trustee, to the reorg and the lockdown, it’s been a very full year. Katie also had a baby!

But, on top of everything, we kept up with our regular fundraising and events schedule with great success. From movie nights to Dance-A-Thons, community drives, workshops and our annual Pride event - none of this work happens without volunteers. Whether you attended a meeting, helped at an event, donated, organized behind the scenes, joined a committee, shared feedback, or simply showed up when something needed doing - thank you!

The Fern community is amazing, and we are at our best when we work together with our kids & our community in focus. We are so grateful for everyone who helped out this year, and proud of what we accomplished together.

A huge thank you to:

• Principal Lariviere and Vice-Principal Rowe, for their ongoing partnership and support

• VERA!!!!!! FOR EVERYTHING! Vera is the glue of this school!!!!! 

• All of our amazing teachers & teaching support staff, office staff, caretaking staff, lunchroom supervisors - everyone for making the school run every day and for going above and beyond for our kids! 

• All Council members and committee members! You know who you are!!

• Class reps! Thanks for keeping everyone informed and connected!

• Event volunteers!!!! Special shoutout to our high school and senior student volunteers!! 

• Families who donated, attended, promoted, and participated

• Community partners and local businesses for helping us out all the time: special shoutout goes to Laura Simpson, Scooter Girl & Barque, as well as Young Creators Studio & Sidarova Inwood for setting up at this year’s Palooza. 

• Also thank you to all donors to our silent auction at the Spring Fling!

What we do all depends on people saying yes, often in small ways that add up to something much bigger. One thing that is very clear to us is that Fern families really care - this is such a special community because people show up for each other, for the school, and for the kids. We can do a lot of good with the energy we all have.

Serving as your Co-Chairs has been a big job, but also a very meaningful one! Thank you for trusting us with this role, for supporting the Council's hard work, and for helping make this year happen. We are excited to see new volunteers step forward and carry this work into the next school year.
