Thanks to everyone who came out last week and wore Red for Ed(ucation) to protest the upcoming cuts!
Parents and kids made signs and made noise —there were pots and pans and honking, and it all drew attention to the chronic underfunding in our schools and the looming cuts (pools, vice principals, itinerant music programs, etc. are all on the chopping block.)
Our Ward 7 Trustee Debbie King came by and thanked everyone for coming out.
If you’d like to do more, fundourschools.ca is organizing another way to voice your displeasure—an organized ‘phone zap’ on June 17th.
***
Protest the provincial government's cuts to education funding - meet us at Sorauren Park (Sorauren and Waubash entrance) at 8:25 a.m. tomorrow for our WALK TO SCHOOL RALLY.
WEAR RED to support education. Please wear red or send students in red, even if you cannot participate in the rally
MAKE simple signs like “FUND OUR SCHOOLS” “SAVE OUR POOLS" “NO FORD CUTS” “NO CUTS TO EDUCATION” - even a simple paper sign on a back pack is appreciated and the more who join, the better!
***NO PROTESTS ARE ALLOWED ON SCHOOL PROPERTY - so we will leave our signs behind when we go into the school grounds.***
Check out the presentation from the recent May Ward 7 meeting for more detail on how this impacts our school(s).
