JOIN THE PARTY PLANNING COMMITTEE!!! We are looking for people to join our Events Committee to help us plan our most important events - the big parties! Our annual Dance-a-Thon, Spring Fling & Fernapalooza Fun Fair are School Council's biggest fundraising events of the school year, and we could really use some helpers to make them the best ones yet! giving thanks for your giving spirit
Many thanks to all the families who donated to the school’s fall food drive this week, and the kid helpers who helped us load up before Thanksgiving weekend. Food for thought: Nearly 25% of Toronto households report experiencing food insecurity. We dropped the Fern PS contributions off at the Parkdale Community Food Bank on Brock, which serves 13,000 people in our neighbourhood per month. In a bid to re-organize, Ms. Balaisis (our librarian) is looking to fashion bumpers for behind the books so the kids can reach them more easily. Thanks to everyone who made it out to our last-minute council meeting on Monday! We approved spending to help offset costs for an upcoming grade 7 field trip , as well as the Forest of Reading program , and are excited for our next meeting on November 4th, where we will brainstorm and discuss our overall fundraising and spending priorities for the year ahead. Help out our friends and neighbours this Thanksgiving season! Fern Ave. P.S. will be collecting non-perishable items for Parkdale Community Food Bank - just in time for Thanksgiving.
